Breaches of Provincial Government Security
"Over the past few weeks there have been several incidents involving alleged
breaches of provincial government security. One of these incidents has included
a tabloid newspaper claiming to be in possession of copies of short message
services (SMSs) which originate from a government cell phone. These breaches
are in contravention of legislation that protects both government and society
from illegal surveillance. The provincial government of the Western Cape views
this in a very serious light and I have asked for a full investigation. The law
must then take its course on completion of the investigation."
