Minister in the Presidency Dr Essop Pahad and Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Sbu
Ndebele invite members of the media to celebrate the International Day of
Disabled Persons on Saturday, 3 December 2006

The focus for this year's celebrations will be on economic empowerment of
people with disabilities. The objectives of the IDDP 2006 are to explore
opportunities for economic empowerment of persons with disabilities within the
government's Accelerated and Shared Growth Initiative for South Africa
(AsgiSA).

The celebrations of the IDDP will happen within the period of 16 Days of
Activism for No Violence against Women and Children; therefore the IDDP also
seeks to highlight issues of violence against women and children with
disabilities
