E Molewa to meet religious and traditional leaders, 14 Dec

Molewa thanks stakeholders and elderly

8 December 2006

Members from religious fraternities and traditional leaders in the North
West are to meet Premier Edna Molewa, in Phokeng near Rustenburg on Thursday,
14 December 2006.

This gathering will give the Premier an opportunity to interact and
socialise with leaders and stakeholders. The men of the cloth and traditional
leaders will also pray for road safety, families, the bereaved, provincial and
national leaders, peace and prosperity for all.

The social meeting will also culminate in an Imbizo for religious leaders
and traditional leaders to discuss matters of mutual interest, a forum for
reflection and sharing.

This occasion will be preceded by the Premier's Christmas party, in honour
of older persons and the disabled in Hammanskraal on Tuesday, 12 December 2006.
More than three hundred people are expected to receive special gifts.

"What we are doing is to recognise the wisdom our elders pass on to us as a
nation. Their contribution to the freedom of this country cannot be
overemphasised. We remain indebted to them as a nation. It is therefore proper
that we continue to recognise their contribution and not stop thanking them,"
said Premier Edna Molewa.

Both events fall under the Premier's annual end of year calendar. A
successful Premier's Children's Day was held late August 2006. The targeted
needy children at the time received blankets and were treated to a fun-filled
day.
