E Molewa at Manamela Village Imbizo during Imbizo Focus Week

Molewa promises acceleration of service delivery in Manamela
Village

9 April 2006

The Premier of North West Province Edna Molewa assured Manamela Village
community that the concerns raised regarding government services during Imbizo
would be attended to.

"We will take into heart and into government programmes all the concerns
raised in the Imbizo so that they form part of both of our response to the
communities' needs and an integral part of our democratic governance," said
Premier Molewa.

Premier Molewa was speaking during Government Imbizo Focus Week programme,
which was held in Manamela Village, which falls under Moses Kotane Local
Municipality.

She says she was delighted the community would now access government
services following the launch of Vuk'uzenzele Multi-Purpose Community Centre
(MPCC).

"Just today, 34 first applications of identification documents (IDs) were
registered. One member of the community was able to receive his ID, which he
has long been waiting for and could not access it until we brought the services
to the community today. Five early registrations of births and another five
late registrations of birth were also captured," she said

Premier Molewa said 14 child support grants were also registered. "I hope
and trust that mothers will assume their responsibilities and use the child
grants for the required purpose, to support and assist the child to grow for
the better. Our children are our future, they are our future leaders," she
said.

The Vuk'uzenzele MPCC lies almost at the centre of 10 villages in west of
Moses Kotane Municipality. It is located in Ward 3, Manamela Village. The MPCC
services the following villages with the population of 30 000: Siga, Mmatau,
Debrak, Brakuil, Voordonker, Khayakhulu, Montsana, Pitse di sule jang, Sesobe,
Letlhakeng, Rampampa, Ratau, Welverdien, Dwarsberg and Mmankaipaya. Government
departments such as Labour, Social Development, Home Affairs, Agriculture,
Conservation and Environment, etc. will offer services to the community.

She said the community of Manamela and surrounding villages should work
together with the 120 Community Development Workers (CDWs), which were
officially introduced during the Imbizo.

"The CDWs you see here today are your link to the Government, it is
important that you work together to speed the programme of creating a better
life and sharing in the growth and development of our province," she said.

Emily Dikgang of Manamela village said while they welcome the Vuk'uzenzele
MPCC, they are still worried about the participation of the Department of
Health in establishing a clinic in the area. "The mobile clinic only visits
this area once and we seek medical attention daily," she said.

Some of the community members raised concerns regarding the lack of enough
teachers, crime, tarred roads and other challenges that impact of their daily
livelihood.

"The people are calling on us to fast track service delivery as the
President has mandated us to service delivery and to start working - Let the
work begin," said Premier Molewa.

The next Imbizo will be held in Potchefstroom, Sarafina Village on
Wednesday, 12 April 2006.
