North West Premier Edna Molewa says the Provincial Government recognises and
acknowledges some of the critical issues the people of Khutsong have raised and
that government was committed to addressing these concerns comprehensively.
Speaking during the State of the Province Address in Mafikeng, Premier
Molewa said the provincial government would prioritise Khutsong in its efforts
to building cohesion and engendering a new developmental consciousness to build
their locality, "working closely with the Gauteng Government and other
stakeholders".
"In this regard, I welcome the people of Khutsong as part of our collective
resource and urge them to join us in addressing challenges they have raised
recently and many we may confront in the future, all with the view to
rebuilding Khutsong," she said.
Ms Molewa also spoke about those communities that would be joining Gauteng
and the Northern Cape, and said that the Provincial Government was grateful for
the manner and commitment in which they had deployed their collective abilities
and expertise to address their challenges.
"I personally know that your resourcefulness is not lost to us, but will
benefit the national effort to build better communities and a winning nation,
irrespective of the space from which you will soon define yourself," she
said.
Ms Molewa said Parliament's decision to reconfigure municipal boundaries was
in the best interest of the people. This decision will not affect accessibility
of government services by the people.
Ms Molewa also urged all these communities to participate in the forthcoming
elections.
