Premier Dipuo Peters is expected to deliver a speech at the De Beers
celebrations tonight. This event follows the signing of a Black Economic
Empowerment deal with Ponahalo. The notable deal is viewed in many influential
quarters as the beginning of an exciting new chapter for both De Beers and
Ponahalo in South Africa.
This event further presents a suitable symbolic opportunity to mark the
transition of the old to the new. The board will see many of the current board
who have contributed hugely to the diamond industry in South Africa retiring
and will see Ponahalo representatives joining the board.
Premier Peters is honoured that the De Beers and Ponahalo Directors under
the leadership of her predecessor Mr Manne Dipico saw it proper to hold the
function in Kimberley.
