As part of Project Consolidate's practical hands-on programme to support
local government, the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Mr Derek
Hanekom together with the Siyanda District Municipality Mayor Ms Maropene Ntuli
will host an imbizo at the Rosedale Hall, Upington on Friday, 17 August, from
09h00 to 12h00.
This forum is intended to give the community an opportunity to raise their
concerns with government about service delivery and for possible solutions to
be identified.
The imbizo will be followed by a visit to a community project (vegetable
garden), driven by the Municipality and the Department of Correctional
Services.
The inmates of Upington Correctional Services are responsible for the
planting and harvesting of the garden. Crops produced are distributed to the
local schools, orphanages as well as a home for the elderly.
