Western Cape Education MEC Cameron Dugmore is to visit the matric exams
marking centre on Saturday, 2 December 2006, where 2 200 markers are marking
about one million examination scripts of the 62 251 candidates who have just
completed the Senior Certificate examinations.
The media are welcome to join MEC Dugmore for a photo opportunity this
Saturday morning, from 08h30 to 09h30 at the Cape Peninsula University of
Technology, Bellville campus (formerly Pentech) marking centre.
In addition to the 2 200 markers, 350 students will perform as mark checkers
(for quality control purposes). The marking, which has started today (Thursday,
30 November), is expected to be completed by Wednesday, 6 December next
week.
Minister Naledi Pander will announce the results on Thursday 28 December.
The Premier, MEC Dugmore and the Western Cape Education Department will honour
and acknowledge the top performing learners and schools at a function on the
same day at the Premier's residence, Leeuwenhof.
