C Dowry: Cheque handover to Agri-Expo (Afrikaans)

Toespraak deur Cobus Dowry, Minister van Landbou in die
Wes-Kaap, oorhandiging van tjek aan Agri-Expo tydens 175ste
jaarvegadering

21 September 2006

The history of Agri-Expo is a very colourful one. Agri-Expo, the Cape of
Good Hope Agricultural Society, has been supporting agriculture and promoting
its image since 1831, and is continuing to do so by presenting the new and
innovative "from the earth". This expo, which will take place from the 13 - 15
October 2006, has as its objectives to introduce and inform consumers and
customers of the wonderful array of products which originates from the earth
and which comes to them through the agricultural supply chain.

From the earth will be bringing the full spectrum of primary and secondary
agriculture sectors together consisting of animals, services and the enormous
variety of products such as dairy, fruit, vegetables, wool, leather and the
various foods, in order to give:

* agriculturists, food processors and manufacturers the opportunity to
exhibit and introduce their products to customers as well as selling it to
consumers
* wine routes the opportunity to display their wines and food
* agri-businesses to supply information about their services or products
* the consuming public the opportunity to be introduced to the processes and
value which are added to products, which originate from the earth.
