The Minister of Minerals and Energy, Ms Buyelwa Sonjica, invites you to the
launch of Thibela Tuberculosis Project at Tau-Tona Mine, in Carltonville.
Thibela TB programme means "Prevention of TB" which is aimed at preventing TB
in the mining industry.
The thrust of this programme is to investigate whether community-wide TB
preventative therapy, added to the standard TB control programme will reduce TB
rates rapidly, and whether this reduction is sustainable over time. The
Department of Minerals and Energy (DME) is committed to limiting the TB risk in
the mining sector through its financial contribution to the Thibela TB
programme.
