The Minister of Minerals and Energy Ms Buyelwa Sonjica and Managing Director
for Sasol Oil Dr Benny Mokaba, invites all media to the launch of the Ratlou
Integrated Energy Centre (IEC). Integrated Energy Centres are one-stop shops
owned and operated by community co-operatives and organised as community
projects aimed at benefiting communities financially.
Objectives of IECs include, inter-alia, creation of job opportunities,
poverty alleviation, development of rural people and bringing energy products
closer to the people. IECs are divided into two sections, namely, the
commercial and information sections which refer to paraffin, LPGas, petrol,
diesel, etcetera, and information sections which cover exhibitions, posters,
brochures on different energy options and products. These largely run
information campaigns on energy saving and optimal usage of related products to
visiting community members.
