The Minister of Minerals and Energy, Ms Buyelwa Sonjica will be introducing
the new board members for the Minerals and Mining Development Board.
The board, set up in terms of section 64 (2) of the Mineral and Petroleum
Resources Development Act (MPRDA), advises Minister on matters such as
sustainable development of South Africa's mineral resources, the transformation
and downscaling of the mining industry and dispute resolution. They will also
be in consultation with the qualifications authority to ensure the promotion of
human resources development in the industry.
