B Sonjica to address Amadiba Community, 14 Dec

Minister B Sonjica to address the Amadiba Community in Xolobeni
in response to the memorandum received

13 December 2007

The Minister of the Department of Minerals and Energy, Ms Buyelwa Sonjica,
will address the community of the Amadiba Mgungundlovu in Xolobeni in response
to the memorandum received by the Director-General, Advocate Sandile Nogxina on
Tuesday, 11 December 2007.

The community in its memorandum referred mainly to the possibility of mining
operations in the area as per an application received by the department, which
application is being processed as per the Act. Minister Sonjica will therefore
bring the community up to speed on the matter and also refer to other issues of
interest to the community that the Department of Minerals and Energy is
responsible for.

The community had in its memorandum asked the department to respond within
seven days. As all are aware that that period ends within the dates set aside
for the Polokwane Conference and therefore the Minister will be unable to
address these issues in the coming week, it is only correct that a response be
delivered prior to the expiry of the seven days.

Minister Sonjica will be in the community as per the following details:

Date: 14 December 2007
Time: 09h00
