The Minister for Justice and Constitutional Development Brigitte Mabandla
will officially open the Bishop Lavis Branch Court on:

Time: 11h00 to 12h00
Venue: Bishop Lavis Magistrate Court, Corner Myrtel and Valhall Drive, Bishop
Lavis, Cape Town

Media is invited to be part of this event. The Bishop Lavis Branch Court has
been improved and will formally be opened to serve the poor and disadvantaged
communities of Bishop Lavis, Elsie River, Uitsig, Cravenby and Langa.
Maintenance services for these communities have been moved from the main seat,
Goodwood in 2005/06 to provide access to justice to vulnerable groups after
lengthy consultations with the community leadership and Non Governmental
Organisations (NGOs) serving the area.

This event will serve as a great opportunity to celebrate 'Access to
Justice' for these communities. A thousand community members and several
councillors are expected to attend the event. Amongst the guests invited are,
the Justice Portfolio Committee, the Premier of the Western Cape, the MEC for
Community Safety, the Judge President, Regional Court President, Chief
Magistrates and Director of Public Prosecution.
