Kwa-Thema Multi-Purpose Community Centre to be launched

27 July 2006

The Gauteng Provincial Government (GPP) together with other stakeholders
will launch the Kwa-Thema Multi-Purpose Community Centre (MPCC) on Saturday, 29
July 2006, as part of Public Service Week.

Gauteng MEC for Health Brian Hlongwa and Ekurhuleni Metropolitan
Municipality Executive Mayor Duma Nkosi will speak at the launch. The MPCC will
serve as a one stop service point from which communities can access various
government services and products.

The Kwa-Thema MPCC will be the first in the province to have an information
kiosk where members of the public can access the Gauteng Provincial Government
(GPG) portal with information and services for the public. The establishment of
the kiosk is in line with a commitment by Premier Mbhazima Shilowa earlier this
year which will see kiosks rolled out throughout the province as part of the
provincial government's e-government strategy.

The MPCC is the 23rd such centre to be launched in Gauteng since 2000. MPCCs
bring together local, provincial and national government services making it
easier for residents to access services and information to improve their lives.
MPCCs also include community-based organisations (CBOs), non-government
organisations (NGOs), parastatals and business services.

Among the services that will be available at the Kwa-Thema MPCC are a
clinic, housing services, municipal pay-points, home affairs, a library, a post
office and a labour centre.

The Kwa-Thema MPCC is situated in the Kwa-Thema Civic Centre, which is
managed by Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and is easily accessible to
nearby communities.

The launch of the MPCC takes place during the Gauteng government's Public
Service Week, which is being held from 24 - 29 July 2006 as part of the Batho
Pele revitalisation campaign. The week's activities recognise public servants'
contribution in making Gauteng a better place and aim to boost service delivery
even further.

Details of the launch are as follows:
