Launch of the Healthy Lifestyles Beach Football and
Volleyball

27 November 2007

Gauteng Health MEC Brian Hlongwa will on Friday, 30 November 2007, launch
the Healthy Lifestyles Beach Football and Volleyball as part of the
department's Quality HealthCare for All Campaign. The department will be
working closely with the Gauteng Departments of Sport, Arts, Culture and
Recreation and Education, aimed at encouraging communities, and particularly
learners to become active and improve their health status.

The Quality HealthCare for All Campaign was launched by MEC Hlongwa in May
this year, and its primary focus is to encourage the Gauteng population to take
more responsibility for their health by choosing healthy options such as
consuming alcohol responsibly, exercising, and eating healthy and avoiding
smoking.

The first phase of the project will run for three months, starting in
December 2007. The department will also be partnering with schools identified
by the Department of Education. Subsequent to the monitoring and evaluation
process further sites in different communities will be identified.

"The private sector has also been invited to be part of this worthy cause,
and we are confident that many of them will respond positively and be our
partner in ensuring the improvement of the health status of the people of
Gauteng," said Hlongwa.

Details of the event are as follows:
Date: Friday, 30 November 2007
Time: 10h00
Venue: Pococks Action Beach Volleyball Arena, Northriding, Johannesburg
