Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnership
with the Gauteng Youth Commission will officially launch the Youth Month
Programme as part of the celebrations for the 31st anniversary of Youth Day and
to commemorate the critical role played by young people in the struggle for
liberation.
During the launch Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation,
Barbara Creecy, will unveil the theme and plans for Youth Day to be celebrated
on Saturday, 16 June 2007.
The Chairperson of the Gauteng Youth Commission, Lebogang Maile, will also
outline key youth development programmes in the province which are aimed at
empowering young people to alleviate poverty, create jobs and change their
lives for the better. The Commission will also be celebrating the first year of
its institutionalisation.
