MEC Creecy to launch Gauteng Pale ya rona carnival

Gauteng MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Barbara Creecy will
launch the Gauteng Pale Ya Rona Carnival on Thursday 26 July at Museum Africa
in Newtown, Johannesburg.

The Carnival aims to celebrate and promote "unity in diversity",
incorporating various forms of dance and parades, with an African flavour. It
further seeks to showcase the multicultural and cosmopolitan nature of the
Gauteng city region and to celebrate its uniqueness as a province that is the
hub of arts, culture and creative industries.

The Carnival is part of the Creative Industries Strategy which is aimed at
developing the creative industries to contribute to economic growth, job
creation, community development and urban regeneration.

Preceding the launch, there will be a 10 minutes carnival display. Details
of the event are as follows:
