Gauteng Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation MEC Barbara Creecy will launch
the Gauteng Athletics Academy (GAA) on Thursday, 30 March 2006.
The GAA is aimed at identifying, developing and nurturing talent with the
aim of fast tracking athletes that were previously disadvantaged.
The GAA will be facilitating and coordinating services such as medical and
scientific support, life skills, capacity building for coaches, administrators
and technical officials, competition opportunities and other logistical support
as required.
Focus will be athlete centred and coach driven.
