B Creecy to address Sports Transformation Workshop, 4 May

Gauteng set for Sports Transformation

3 May 2006

The Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Barbara Creecy,
will deliver a keynote address at the Sports Transformation Workshop to be held
on Thursday, 4 May 2006.

The workshop will create a platform to interact with stakeholders regarding
the key elements of a provincial sport and recreation strategy for Gauteng.

Discussions will also be held on sport related transformation issues and
experiences and the adoption of a generic Transformation Scorecard Template for
sport in the Province.

The workshop will also serve as a stage to motivate the sport community in
the province as to the need for aligning new political geographic and
historical sports boundaries and also to reinforce the accelerated need for
transformation in sport.

"The outcomes of the workshop, amongst other things, will seek to formalise
a provincial sports forum where stakeholders can address common provincial
sport responsibilities," says Creecy.

The outcomes of the two previous sport transformation conferences will also
come under a spotlight.
