lunch
25 June 2007
A senior delegation from Soccerex in London will attend a two-day Soccerex
event to meet with their South African counterparts on Tuesday, 26 and
Wednesday, 27 June 2007. During the press conference on Tuesday, 26 June, the
second to be held in Gauteng this year on Soccerex, announcements on title
sponsorships, additional partners, corporate social responsibility projects and
a football festival to be held in Sandton will be made. This will be followed
by a trade commission lunch on Wednesday, 27 June 2007, which will look at
business opportunities in South Africa for foreign companies, trade commissions
and potential sponsors ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Soccerex, the biggest annual business-to-business soccer convention, will be
held in Gauteng from 26 to 28 November 2007 and for the next two years
thereafter. It provides Gauteng and South Africa with an international platform
to showcase the province and the country as a destination for investment,
tourism and competitive sporting events, particularly in the build up to the
2010 FIFA World Cup. The event is expected to inject R7 billion into the
Gauteng economy. Soccerex will also attract top international stakeholders in
the football industry and be the converging point for high level networking,
incisive debate on the latest issues facing the game, celebrities and live
football.
Speakers for the two-day conference include:
* Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Barbara Creecy
* 2010 Local Organising Committee CEO Danny Jordaan
* Captains of the Football Festival Team and 2010 Ambassadors Lucas Radebe and
England and Liverpool football great John Barnes
