The Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) will gather tomorrow, 20 October 2006,
in Umhlanga Sharks Board, for RTI Charge Day, starting from 09h00. This is part
of the continuation of Transport Month programme.
All traffic officers in KwaZulu-Natal are expected to attend the gathering.
Among other things to be discussed will be how to deal with accidents; be fast
and more effective without causing secondary accidents; rooting out of
unroadworthy vehicles. The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety
and Liaison, Mr B H Cele is expected to address the gathering.
MEC Cele said, "The primary role of the KwaZulu-Natal RTI is saving lives in
our roads by reducing road crashes through the effective implementation of our
100% compliance policy." After the event RTI officers are expected to hold road
blocks in their respective areas of operation where they are going to be joined
by different law enforcement officers in multi disciplinary road blocks.
