Arts and Culture marks International Translation Day with a
Language Conference

The Department of Arts and Culture invites media to the International
Translation Day celebrations. The International Translation Day celebrations
will be preceded by a conference, 27 - 28 September, focusing on the nature and
structure of language services in South Africa and the role of translation in
promoting multilingualism. The International Translation Day is a brainchild of
the International Federation of Translators (FIT) which is celebrated on 30
September every year.

This year, department will celebrate the day on 29 September. The highlight
of the celebrations will be presentations on translation programmes by speakers
from the Tshwane University of Technology and the University of the Western
Cape.
