All members of the media are invited to the signing of the Memorandum of
Understanding between the Governments of the Republic of South Africa and the
Kingdom of Lesotho at a meeting to be held tomorrow (7 December 2007) at the
Protea Hotel in Bloemfontein. The meeting starts at 8h30.
The objective of this Memorandum of Understanding on co-operation in the
field of agriculture is to establish joint developmental agrarian programmes,
without prejudicing other fields of co-operation that may be considered in the
future including among others:
* animal health and production,
* plant health and production,
* increased bilateral trade for poverty eradication,
* strengthen border control and inspections (control on abattoirs, public
health and stock theft).
The Memorandum of Understanding will be signed by Lesotho Ministry of
Agriculture and Food Security and in respect of South Africa by the Department
of Agriculture.
