The AgriBEE committee for the Department of Agriculture presented its
follow-up report to the Minister of Agriculture, Lulu Xingwana, today at the
department's offices in Pretoria.
The Committee, comprising various individuals from different sections of the
industry, agreed on the critical importance of investment in core skills
development for the sector. The committee furthermore, agreed on the need to
expedite the AgriBEE process.
The committee will meet again to finalise a few outstanding minor issues
where there are still differences.
In closing, the Minister thanked the committee and encouraged them that "the
meeting provided valuable pointers for the AgriBEE survey."
