The AgriBEE Steering Committee met yesterday here in Pretoria to discuss
comments relating to AgriBEE. The comments on the Broad-based Black Economic
Empowerment (BBBEE) phase two codes of good conduct will be submitted to the
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on 31 March.
The Steering Committee agreed to further work on elements of the draft
charter and the indicative scorecards. It also discussed processes, notably
linkages, required between AgriBEE and accelerated land reform and the
opportunities offered by AgriBEE.
The Steering Committee has undertaken to hold a workshop on skills
development and employment equity relating to AgriBEE.
The comment period on the draft AgriBEE charter and indicative scorecards
has now been extended to 28 April 2006 following a request from
stakeholders.
A further direct communication will be made by the AgriBEE secretariat to
the stakeholders in this regard.
