A Tripatite delegation from Nedlac constituents led by Labour Minister
Membathisi Mdladlana has begun a series of meetings at the 95th Session of the
International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva on issues ranging from
employment relations to social security.
The conference, which ends on 16 June, will culminate with an address to the
United Nations (UN) body by Minister Mdladlana on Monday (5 June).
The agenda includes occupational health, casualisation, contract work,
outsourcing and labour brokerage.
Those attending come from business, trade unions and government in line with
the ILC requirements of tripartism.
The annual conference is also expected to adopt a promotional framework on
occupational health and safety.
There will also be discussions on forced labour issues in Mynmar and the
plight of Palestinian workers.
Minister Mdladlana said South Africa was prepared to share its experience
with the almost 180 ILC member states around issues of common concern, while at
the same time learning from them.
