A total of 674 Department of Labour inspectors are currently being trained
to enforce compliance with the newly promulgated sectoral determination in the
hospitality sector. Reports received from nine out 10 provincial offices
excluding the North West, show that the department will stop at nothing in
ensuring the exploitation of workers becomes a thing of the past.

The Eastern Cape office is conducting training for 124 inspectors, while the
greater Limpopo province trains a total of 120 officials. The Western Cape is
training 114, followed by 79 in Mpumalanga and 68 in Pretoria. In KwaZulu-Natal
64 inspectors are being trained and 25 in the greater Johannesburg area. In
addition to the number of inspectors undergoing the sessions, 82 registration
