Media are invited to attend the third Global Environmental Facility (GEF)
assembly which will be hosted at the Cape Town International Convention
Centre.
South Africa is a member of GEF assembly, which is an independent financial
organisation that provides financial assistance or grants to developing
countries for projects that benefit the global environment and promote
sustainable livelihoods in local communities.
The central objective of GEF is to support the implementation of the global
agenda in developing countries as it relates to environmental issues such as
climate change, biodiversity, ozone depletion, land degradation and
international waters.
