The Geoscience Act 100 of 1993 intends:
- to provide for the promotion of research and the extension of knowledge in the field of geoscience;
- for that purpose to make provision for the establishment of a Council for Geoscience and for the management thereof by a Management Board; and
- to provide for matters connected therewith.

1 November 1993 (Gazette 15148 of 8 October 1993)
