            The repealed Forest Amendment Act 53 of 1991 intended:
- to amend the Forest Act, 1984 [repealed in 2004], so as
 - to make further provision regarding the clearing and maintenance of fire belts;
 - to change the name of the Board for National Botanic Gardens to the National Botanical Institute; and
 - to extend and further define the objects and functions of the said institute; and
 - to provide for matters connected therewith.
