Departments Youth Excellence Awards winners start training programme

Today, 21 organisations focused on youth development will begin the ABSA Emerging Business Management Course. The organisations were all previously honoured at last year’s MEC Youth Excellence Awards.

The course is a joint initiative between the Western Cape Department of Social Development (DSD), the Department of Economic Development and Tourism and ABSA bank.

The format is an intense two-day workshop aimed at equipping organisations/SMEs with some of the essential skills required to run successful projects/business. The course forms part of the prizes offered to the winners at the awards organisations by DSD.

The 21 organisations which are attending the course are;

  5. Enke: Make Your Mark
  6. The Amy Biehl Foundation
  7. Iliso Care Society

  10. Rainbow Arts Organisation
  11. St Anne's Homes
  12. Columba Leadership Trust
  13. Dream Factory Foundation
  14. Oasis Association
  15. SAILI
  16. The Sozo Foundation
  17. Laphumilanga Youth Development Association
  18. Access Trust
  19. Rural Arts Network
  20. Sunny Sky Project
  21. Net Vir Pret.

This workshop is valued at R 2 500 per attendee, and will play an important role in building skills within the many SMEs and NGOs doing great work in empowering youth. Participants who pass the assessments will receive 45 credits towards a SETA recognised NQF Level 4 qualification.
