Gauteng Health hosts World Prematurity Day, 16 Nov

In a bid to prevent preterm birth and the problems and risks involved in the development of a preterm infant, the Gauteng Department of Health will on Wednesday, 16 November 2016 host an awareness campaign at Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital, Westdene in Johannesburg.

Prematurity day is a global initiative which was started with the aim to educate expecting mothers on prematurity, signs to look out for during pregnancy which could lead to premature birth as well as gather support for the urgent call to halve the under 5 mortality rate by the year 2025.

During the campaign, Huggies® will offer mothers awareness; educate them on the importance of good antenatal care as well as highlighting the importance of contacting their health care provider when they suspect anything is wrong. Huggies® will also donate 60 packs of  their Huggies®  Preemie nappies to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to support their efforts in caring for preterm babies

Huggies® also started the  Huggies® Club initiative at public clinics in Gauteng earlier this year and the programme entails Huggies® Brand Mums conducting health talks covering various topics relating to the wellbeing of mom whilst she is pregnant as well as new born care.

The media is invited to attend.
