Labour postpones Dr David Michael Adams trial

Trial of Dr Adams alleged to have defrauded Department of Labour CF postponed to tomorrow

The trial of Dr David Michael Adams (41) alleged to have defrauded the Department of Labour’s Compensation Fund (CF) of R396 660 was today postponed in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court for tomorrow (14 September).

The State requested a postponement as the Court was presiding over another urgent matter.

Dr Adams is facing a charge of theft. He is alleged to have received “unauthorised” payments from the Compensation Fund, and was arrested in 2010. He first appeared in the case March 2014 at the Pretoria Specialised Crime Court, and his matter was in November 2015 transferred to the Pretoria Magistrates’’ Court.

He is yet to plead. During his arrest Dr Adams was running his practice in Lehurutse, North West. He is out on a bail.

The Compensation Fund is a public entity of Department of Labour that provides cover to workers injured or who contract diseases at work.
