Parliament holds deliberations on Traditional and Khoi-san Leadership Bill, 3 Feb

Traditional and Khoi-san Leadership Bill deliberations continue tomorrow

Deliberations into the Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Bill continue tomorrow (Wednesday 3 February) in Parliament.

Stakeholders expected to make input into the Bill include, among others, South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), CLR Rights Commission and SALGA.

The first day (today) of these stakeholder engagements saw MPs interacting with submissions from the Legal Resources Centre, Land and Accountable Research Centre, Financial and Fiscal Commission and Natural Justice as well as Professor Ben Cousins of PLAAS.

The Bill was officially tabled in Parliament in August last year and is being considered by the Portfolio and Select Committees on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs. The ongoing stakeholder engagements serve as a precursor to a series of nationwide public hearings where ordinary South Africans will have an opportunity to contribute to the Bill.

Details of the meeting are as follows:

Date: Wednesday, 3 February 2016
Time: 9h30
