Government hosts ceremony to memorialise Swedish International Solidarity, 21 Mar

Memorialisation of Swedish International Solidarity takes place at Freedom Park

The Swedish Ministry of Culture and Democracy, Bridging Ages International, the Swedish Embassy, The South African Department of Arts & Culture, The Department of International Relations, Freedom Park and Nodic Africa Institute, will host a ceremony to memorialise the Swedish International Solidarity to People of South Africa during the liberation Struggle this coming Tuesday the 21 March 2017.

The activities will include handing over of the Swedish names of people who died in the struggle to liberate South Africa from the apartheid regime, a short background about the handed names, Interfaith prayers, a  wreath laying ceremony at the International Boulder by the Minister of Sweden and a short information session on the Wall of names.

The aim of this project is to ensure that the unbreakable bond that bind its people during the liberation struggle should forever be memorialised in the Wall of names for generations to learn more about where we come from as a nation.
