Stakeholders get an update on progress of amalgamation of Tlokwe and Ventersdorp
With the local government elections just around the corner and the merger of Tlokwe and Ventersdorp local municipalities in Bokone Bophirima going ahead, a series of stakeholders meetings are to take place to appraise them (stakeholders) on progress since the announcement to merge the two municipalities. They will be addressed by councillors from both municipalities and officials from the province.
The meetings are to start at the weekend and will be attended by church leaders, business people, members of communal property associations, taxi operators, farmers organisations, representatives from both community based organisations and non-governmental organisations.
The Municipal Dermacation Board (MDC) has in terms of in terms of section 21 of the Local Government: Municipal Demarcation Act, 1998, re-determined the municipal boundaries of Tlokwe local municipality and Ventersdorp local municipality by amalgamating their municipal areas and determined the municipal boundaries of the new category B municipal area.
