Minister Malusi Gigaba meets Human Rights Commission and LGBTI Community, 5 Sept

The Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba, will on Monday, 5 September 2016, meet with the Chairperson of the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), Advocate Lawrence Mushwana, as well as the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) community.

Following a meeting with the LGBTI community in June 2016, Minister Gigaba set up a DHA/LGBTI Task Team to deal with issues that affect them in relation to Home Affairs services. To this end, the Task Team will present a status report to the Minister on progress made since the meeting.

Other issues affecting the LGBTI community will be discussed at the meeting, including a petition sent to Minister Gigaba pertaining the potential visit to the country by American pastor, Steven L Anderson.
