The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) in partnership with the Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality will on Thursday, 18 August 2016 launch the Community Retail Enhancement Project. This project is implemented nationwide by Channel O CC Investments using a container model. The launch is the second following the first in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.
The container will be managed by a youth owned co-operative and will provide e-café services, e-accessories and computickets, day-to-day household consumables and banking services to the local community. This initiative will empower young people through job creation and enabling access to critical services to communities in rural areas. A total of fifteen (15) youth-owned cooperatives in rural areas will benefit from this project.
NYDA Executive Director for Planning, Design, Development and Delivery; Ms Nthuseng Mphahlele will accompany the newly inaugurated Executive Mayor of Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality, who will deliver the keynote address.
