Limpopo Education on proposed relocation of Malamulele High School

Prior to 2007, a decision was taken to relocate Malamulele High school from Malamulele Central Business District to a vacant identified state land at Malamulele Section D. This was due to high levels of noise which adversely affected the teaching and learning activities in the school.

It was also realised that the yard of the school was too small to accommodate any new development that the school may require. The school was also susceptible to vandalism from time to time.

The Limpopo Department of Education budgeted for the relocation of the school and land was set aside by the Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure. An implementing agent, Independent Development Trust (IDT) was appointed for the construction of the school.

The community identified a privately owned land for the relocation of the school contrary to what the department had offered. The community preferred land has both financial and legal implications with negative impact on the Treasury regulations. In the interim, legal teams of both departments are handling the matter.
