Police arrests men caught with mandrax tablets

Two Soweto men have been arrested after the bakkie they were travelling in was found with thousands of mandrax tablets hidden in different compartments during a stop and search along the N9, Uniondale road in the George District, Western Cape province on Saturday afternoon.

The Organised Crime unit of the Hawks together with the Tsitsikama K9 Unit were doing their routine stop and search when they stopped a white bakkie which was travelling from Johannesburg to Cape Town. Upon searching the vehicle Hawks members discovered drugs hidden on top of the gearbox, on top of the chassis as well as many other compartments underneath the vehicle. R16 800 in cash was also found in possession of the suspects.

Bethuel Malebo, whose real surname is Mzinyane (50), and his passenger, Kenny Kenneth Sithole (63) were arrested on the spot and have appeared before the Uniondale Magistrate’s Court on Monday where their case was postponed to 27 January 2016 for bail application.. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mzinyane has been on the wanted list for suspected drug dealing. He is not new to treading on the wrong side of the law as he was previously found guilty on two charges of theft in Booysens and Johannesburg Central.
