Pretoria nurses to observe International Nurses Day
Nurses in the Tshwane District, will on Thursday commemorate International Nurses Day under the theme: “Nurses: a force for change. Improving health systems’ resilience”.
Nurses Day is commemorated internationally around the anniversary of Ms. Florence Nightingale’s birthday on May 12, who is considered as the founder of modern day nursing. In South Africa, the first black nurse Ms. Cecilia Makiwane is also remembered.
The Nurses Day is observed to honour the important role nurses play in the healthcare system.
