President Jacob Zuma undertakes State Visit to Mozambique, 20 to 21 May

President Jacob Zuma will, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Mozambique, His Excellency President Filipe Nyusi, pay a State Visit to the Republic of Mozambique from 20-21 May 2015.South Africa and Mozambique share strong historical and fraternal ties dating back to the time of the fight against colonialism and apartheid.

The objective of the visit is to consult on issues of mutual interest, in particular on bilateral, regional and continental cooperation.

Historically South Africa and Mozambique have strong economic ties as evidenced not only in the presence of over 300 companies' operative in Mozambique, but also in the high trade volumes. Mozambique remains South Africa's top trading partner in Africa. In 2014, for example, South African exports to Mozambique amounted to R32.6 billion, while imports from Mozambique to South Africa totalled R11.3 billion.

President Zuma will be accompanied by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa, Minister of Energy, Ms Tina Joemat-Pettersson and Minister of Environmental Affairs, Ms Edna Molewa.
