Presidency appoints Head of the Private Office of the President

The Presidency has pleasure in announcing the appointment of Dr Bongani Ngqulunga as Deputy Director-General and Head of the Private Office of the President. 

Dr Ngqulunga has been acting in that position since the appointment of the previous incumbent, Ms Lakela Kaunda, as the Chief Operations Officer in the Presidency on 1 November 2014.

He joined the Presidency in 2006 as a Senior Policy Analyst and later Chief Policy Analyst and Head of Governance and Administration in the then Policy Coordination and Advisory Services (PCAS). Dr Ngqulunga has also worked as Acting Chief of Staff in the Office of the Director-General and Secretary of Cabinet in the Presidency between 2010 and 2011.

Dr Ngqulunga has been working in the position of Chief Director of Special Projects in the Private Office of the President since March 2010, in which he provided support to the President in his programme to monitor and evaluate the performance of government departments, provinces and municipalities as well as Ministers.

His educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Pedagogics and a Bachelor of Education degrees from the then University of Durban-Westville, an MSc (Master of Science in Development Studies) from the then University of Natal (Durban) and a PhD from Brown University in the United States of America.
