The Executive Council held a scheduled meeting on the 24th January 2017. And the following issues were deliberated upon:
The location of the provincial Traffic Training College
The Executive Council noted that Manenu will be maintained as the Traffic Training College primarily due to the fact that;
- Manenu will be modernised as more new infrastructure will be built.
- It will be financially cost effective to maintain the existing site.
- The Provincial Treasury will provide funding in the coming financial year.
Provincial Overall expenditure as at 31st December 2016.
The Provincial Treasury submitted provincial revenue and expenditure report for the Executive Council to note the following:
The overall provincial spending as at 31st December 2016 amounted to R42.7 billion or 72.4 percent of the total adjusted budget of R59.0 billion. Of the total R42.7 billion total expenditure, R37.6 is on equitable share and R5.2 billion is on Conditional Grants.
The Province has recorded a collection of R1.1 billion or 76.0 percent as at 31st December 2016 which is in line with our projection.
The Provincial Infrastructure expenditure stood at R3.4 billion or 59.0 percent. We do not expect anyone to under spend as that is against our commitments.
The Executive Council have also noted progress made with regard to transfer of Limpopo wildlife resorts, this include the approval to transfer 139 personnel to LEDET with effect from 01st April 2017.
This is in accordance with Exco decision no 7 of 2015/16 which approved the transfer of the Limpopo Wild Life Resorts function as well as the affected staff to LEDET.
The executive Council also approved the appointment of Mr. Nchabeleng Nape Solomon as the Director General of the Province with effect from 1st February 2017.
