Police foils the hydroponic dagga manufacturing at Bluff

On 13 May 2016, Durban Flying Squad Narcotics Task Team received a tipoff of drugs being manufactured in a house at Bluff. A sting operation was conducted in a mansion which led the Police in discovering a laboratory which manufacture the dagga using hydroponic systems and stolen electricity from the municipality pole. Hydroponic dagga plants valued at about R100 000 were confiscated for further examination by the Forensic Expects. A 57 year old man was arrested and found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He is going to be charged for manufacturing of hydroponic drugs, dealing in hydroponic drugs, possession of unsilenced firearm and ammunition. He is expected to appear before court on Monday.  

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni thanked the members for a quick response to information and for making that the issues of drugs are dealt with seriously. “This will send a strong message to other criminals who are hiding and doing illegal operation which destroy the future of this country our children. The police will leave no stone unturned to route out drug factories in this province,” she said.
