MEC Nomafrench Mbombo conducts oversight visit to construction site of District Six Community Health Centre, 29 Jun

On Wednesday, 29 June 2016, the Western Cape Health Minister, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo and the Transport and Public Works Minister, Donald Grant, will conduct an oversight visit to the site where the new R104 million District Six Community Health Centre is being built.

Commissioned by the Department and Public Works (DTPW) for the Western Cape Department of Health, the project began in November 2014 and the new facility is expected to have been completed in January 2017. When it opens, the centre will provide services from 7h30 to 16h30 for to up to 750 patients a day from Salt River, Woodstock, Vredehoek and central Cape Town. The pharmacy will have extended opening hours. The facility will boast specialised units for chronic disease, infectious disease, woman and child health, radiology, emergency treatment, oral health, and rehabilitation.

Because most provincial facilities are constructed and maintained by the DTPW until they have opened their doors to the public, Minister Grant will be showing Minister Mbombo around the construction site and providing a progress update.

There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.

Date: 29 June 2016
Time: 09h30 to 11h00
Venue: District Six Community Health Centre site, Primrose Street, District Six, Cape Town
