Public servants across the three Districts of the North West Province have expressed their greatest support and excitement about the Provincial Government’s service delivery programmes, which according to them are a true reflection of a people-driven government.
This positive reaction was shared during the North West Director-General, Dr Lydia Sebego’s engagement with public servants based in Bojanala Platinum, Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati Districts respectively.
The purpose of these sessions was to encourage public servants to familiarise themselves with the vision of the fifth administration, and be good ambassadors of the provincial government’s development plan.
Speaking to public servants in Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipalities this week on Monday and Tuesday respectively, Dr Sebego told public servants that the province will not be able to attain its goals if they do not understand its vision and strategy.
Key to the discussions was the fifth administration’s vision to rebrand, reposition and renew the province through five concretes which are Agriculture, Culture and Tourism (ACT), Villages, Townships and Small Dorpies (VTSD), Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal, Setsokotsane and SaamTrek - SaamWerk philosophy, and the central role public servants must play towards the attainment of this vision.
The Director-General who was accompanied by senior managers in the Office of the Premier, also explained the 10-point campaigns launched recently by the Premier, which are aimed at tackling societal issues affecting people on daily basis.
“As the drivers of our province’s service delivery programmes, we believe your understanding of the significance of these programmes is critical” Sebego emphasised.
“We are certainly moving away from convention; and it remains our responsibility to make sure that a common understanding prevails, so as to move at the same pace.
This service delivery approach requires that we be on the ground resolving the challenges facing our people. It is also your duty as you carry out your daily duties to ensure that you make people understand what Bokone Bophirima Provincial Government is about,” she said.
Dr Sebego further encouraged public servants to promote and implement the ten-point campaigns especially that of a healthy lifestyle.
She also used this platform to commend public servants who participated at this year’s Comrades marathon, and encouraged fellow public servants to lead a healthy lifestyle by eating well and participating in various sporting codes. “A healthy body leads to a healthy mind”, Dr Sebego remarked.
Public servants applauded the leadership of the province for taking time to explain the vision of the fifth administration.
David Bogatsu, an employee at the Department of Public Works in Taung welcomed the DG’s thorough engagement with them.
“We thank our provincial government for communicating with us because we needed clarity on some of the things we did not understand. We can now advocate the fifth administration’s programme of action with ease and confidence”.
The Department of Education and Sports Development official who participated in this year’s Comrades marathon, Delishia Miller, also expressed her contentment about the ten-point campaigns.
“I like the fact that our provincial government is promoting and prioritising healthy living through these campaigns, and that focus is not only on public servants but the entire society.
