Suspect in the intimidation case against Mahumapelo arrested
The suspect who has been arrested in a case of intimidation against Premier SOR Mahumapelo appeared before the Molopo Magistrate court today.
He was granted a bail of R3000 with conditions attached to it which includes amongst others that he should hand over his passport to the investigating officer and that he should not interact with witnesses.
The suspect is a ward Councillor of ward 13 in Mahikeng Local Municipality.
The arrest follows the messages (SMSs) which Premier Mahumapelo has
been receiving which contain death threats against him.
Mahumapelo subsequently opened a case of intimidation which resulted in the
arrest of the suspect.
“I welcome the arrest of the suspect and have full confidence that the law will take its course. This is not the first attempt on my life, including attempts at defaming me.” Remarked Mahumapelo
