Police embarks on successful operation in Muizenberg

Muizenberg South African Police Service operational success

From Friday 20 May to Sunday 22 May 2016, Muizenberg SAPS made a total of 19 arrests for crimes varying from fraud to robbery.

These arrests include inter alia, attempted housebreaking and theft (1), possession of narcotics (5), robbery (1), possession of stolen m/v (3), fraud (2), possession of dangerous weapon (1), assault GBH (2), domestic violence (1), possession of stolen property (1), MITP (1) and one arrest was made for trespassing.

On Friday 20 May 2016, members of Muizenberg South African Police Service (SAPS), conducted various searches and crime prevention patrols in sectors 1 and 2.

Members made the following arrests, which included the arrest of an 18 year old resident of Overcome Heights for the possession of two packets of dagga, this at approximately 14:45 in St Patrick Avenue, Overcome Heights.

At approximately 17:40 the members were patrolling in Potberg Road Hillview, where they noticed a suspicious motor vehicle. The vehicle was stopped and searched and the policemen came upon 10 bags of tik and one straw containing tik. A 29 year old resident of Hillview was arrested and detained at Muizenberg SAPS.

At approximately 18:45, whilst patrolling in Diamond Drive Sheraton Park, members noted a white VW Golf with two occupants, who behaved suspiciously, which prompted the police members to search the vehicle, whereupon they discovered 20 small plastic bags containing tik. A 22 year old male and a 27 year old female, residents of Steenberg and Sheraton Park respectively, were subsequently arrested for possession of narcotics and detained at the Muizenberg police station.

At the same time a suspicious looking male in Diamond Drive, a 51 year old suspect a resident of Sheraton Park, was searched and found to be in possession of 9 sticks of dagga. He was arrested and detained at Muizenberg SAPS.

On Saturday 21 May 2016 at approximately 05:20, members of Muizenberg SAPS responded to a complaint of a member of a NHW needing assistance. The NHW member was following blue VW Polo, which was believed to have been stolen. The vehicle was pulled over in Royal Road Muizenberg and was subsequently tested and found to have been stolen in April 2016 in Cape Town. The three occupants of the vehicle, all males aged 33, 42 and 43 respectively, were arrested and detained at Muizenberg SAPS for being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
